9 more hours

First and formost, I want everybody to know that I am ok.
Really, I am

But I have a "glitch". It seems that I have a balancing issue when I walk.

My doctor wants me to have a sleep deprived EEG at 9:45 in the morning. I have to stay awake for 24 hours before the test. I have nine more to go.

I'm not writing this for a pity party. Just something to do to try to stay awake!
It might be fun to watch my brain melt down.

I'll probably take some pictures later tonight too.

I've got some plans tonight. I'd like to carve a new stamp and use it for a new LTC I'll call "Wired". I was also thinking of calling it "Fried"

I'm also doing mundane stuff like laundry and dishes. I may also watch all of Lord of the Rings on DVD.
I'll try to break up the evening.

So it's 12:54 am...so far so good.

Quilting for the Ranch

I volunteer with a group called Humble Hands at my church. We quilt, sew, crochet and knit items for people who need them.
Our latest project is quilts for the Edgewood Childrens Ranch in Orlando, Florida.

The ranch is a safe place for children to stay while their parents clean up their lives.
It is not an orphanage.
We decided to make twin sized quilts for the kids for Christmas gifts. When the children finally get to go home, they will be able to take their quilts with them.
Most of the materials for our projects is donated.
This time we were awarded a grant from a local quilting guild.
The ladies of the group have been piecing the quilt tops. And I have been running the long-arm quilting machine. The machine was donated to us by Dack.

Gail went with race car fabric for her quilt. And I found a flame pattern to quilt.
I did this free hand on the machine. There is a video of me running the machine in the next post.

The photos show Sandy and Gail trimming the edge of her quilt. I took a close up of the quilt and the blue backing.

The final photo is of Molly and her grand-daughters with her quilt. She chose a fish print fabric and I quilted a wave pattern.

Long-arm Quilter

Once again, for your entertainment, my bird Sami.

When she is relaxing, she need to have something right in front of her.

I think she feels more secure this way.

I'll be sitting with her on my lap. And I'll be holding a coffee cup too. And she has to be right next to it. At first, I thought she was doing this to stay warm. But she likes her boxes too.

System's down -- Life's good

So I get home from work Thursday night at about midnight.
The cable is out. No tv, no computer.
The cable needs to go out more often.

I relaxed on the couch. I read the rest of that day's paper. And I watched my bird preen.
Maybe I just entertain easy. And it's not like I haven't watched her preen before.
But I got the biggest kick out of it.
It's amazing watching her work over every feather. Especially her long tail feathers.

I posted a video of her a while ago, being herself. But of course, photos don't do her justice.
I wish I didn't have to clip her wings. Her flight feathers are grey, with yellow pokey-dots!

I then read a chapter of "The Princess Bride" and went off to bed.
It was a very relaxing way to end my day.

P.S. And I actually got to bed at a decent hour. Well, at least for afternoon shift.

Guess who stopped by?

Barbara Tyink stopped by the store today.

We were all so tickled to see her.

She's still adjusting to retirement. But she looks all tan and rested after a trip to the beach this past week.
